The Wolf Prince Cover Reveal

Today I’m helping Claire M. Banschbach reveal the cover of her upcoming book, The Wolf Prince!

The Wolf Prince-ebook

Release date!!!! August 21, 2018!

Synopsis:

One prince. Two brothers. Three companions to prevent a sorcerer from destroying the faeries.

Prince Killian has always known he’s different. It’d be impossible to miss the whispers of an age-old family curse, to ignore the call of the wolves on his birthnight and the barely-veiled hostility from his people. His family insists there’s no curse. If only they were right.

When an evil sorcerer bent on destroying the faeries turns Killian into a wolf to use in his diabolical spell, Killian must rely on the help of his playboy brother, Lars, and Rose, an aspiring ranger they meet on the road, to escape the sorcerer and find the faeries who can turn him human again.

There’s only one problem. Faeries haven’t been seen in over 50 years.

Together Killian and his companions must overcome their differences and prejudices to defeat malevolent creatures along the road, evade the sorcerer and his minions, and find the faeries before the sorcerer can kill them all.

A Realm Makers Interview and New Pen Name

If you follow me on social media, you know I was at Realm Makers this past week. It was not only my first RM, but my first writer’s conference! Let me tell you, it was one of the most amazing experiences of my entire life. I had the best time and got to meet so many of my online friends. Every single one of them was amazing. I can hardly wait for next year.

While at Realm Makers, I had the pleasure of taking part in a flash interview. It was a ton of fun, though I completely messed up my age. LOL That’s what you get from a sleep deprived introvert writer’s brain that late at night. I’m only human after all. ;)

During the interview, I made the spontaneous announcement that I am going to be using a different pen name to publish my contemporary romance novels. Oh yeah, there’s another spontaneous announcement for you. The contemporary novel I wrote for NaNoWriMo 2016 has turned into a trilogy! Ah! So the new pen name is Jaye Elliot. It’s very similar to Jaye L. Knight but will differentiate between my two very different writing genres. :)

Even though it’s a trilogy, each book can be read as a standalone. While the first book is finished and I hope to publish sooner rather than later, I won’t start working on the next two until I’m finished writing the last book of Ilyon Chronicles.

Since my new name is out there, I wanted to share the Facebook page for it. A shiny new website will come along eventually, but with FB you can keep up with any updates as I post them. Also, you can watch the RM interview below and all laugh with me at my math mistake. If only I were still 20 and not turning 30 in September.

Double 4th of July Ilyon Chronicles Cover Reveal

4thCoverRevealBanner copy

The 4th of July is my favorite holiday. It always has been. It’s fully summer and warm (usually) and I love it. I’m a total summer/warm weather girl. I NEED summer. So yes, this is definitely my favorite holiday.

What does that have to do with Ilyon? Absolutely nothing. Lol! But I thought, why not celebrate with a cover reveal? I wasn’t going to reveal the cover for Bitter Winter until I had a set release date, but then I changed my mind. It seemed like a fun thing to do on my favorite holiday. Not only that, but I’m revealing the cover for Bitter Winter’s companion novella, Lacy! I also happened to realize while making the graphics that the colors match the holiday perfectly—blue and red! Crazy coincidence.

Book Review—More Than Meets the Eye

36353369

About the Book

Many consider Evangeline Hamilton cursed. Orphaned at a young age and possessing a pair of mismatched eyes--one bright blue, the other dark brown--Eva has fought to find her way in a world that constantly rejects her. Yet the support of even one person can help overcome the world's judgments, and Eva has two--Seth and Zach, two former orphans she now counts as brothers.

Seeking justice against the man who stole his birthright and destroyed his family, Logan Fowler arrives in 1880s Pecan Gap, Texas, to confront Zach Hamilton, the hardened criminal responsible for his father's death. Only instead of finding a solitary ruthless gambler, he discovers a man not much older than himself with an unusual family. When Zach's sister, Evangeline, insists on dousing Logan with sunshine every time their paths cross, Logan finds his quest completely derailed. Who is truly responsible for his lost legacy, and will restoring the past satisfy if it means forfeiting a future with Evangeline?

My Review: 5

A new Karen Witemeyer book is something I always look forward to with great anticipation. It’s hard to pick favorites with Karen’s books, but More Than Meets the Eye is definitely high up on my list. And Evangeline is one of my favorite of Karen’s female characters, which is a big deal because I have trouble finding female protagonists I like. But Evangeline is just so happy and sweet you can’t help but like her. One of my favorite things about this book is the sibling relationship. I LOVE sibling relationships (even when they are not blood siblings). The way the book started out was so tragic and sad! But there were so many lovely, lighthearted moments throughout the story to make up for it. And, as many readers, I can hardly wait to read Zach’s story next! You gotta love tough, broody characters like that with hearts of gold. Do yourself a favor and get reading Karen’s books if you haven’t already.

T-Shirts and Hoodies and Mugs, oh my!

I wanted to share a quick update about my different business endeavors. After all, writing, unfortunately, doesn’t pay all of my bills. As most of you know, I’ve been selling jewelry on Etsy for a number of years now. In the last year, I’ve started expanding to clothing and other accessories. As my main Etsy shop grew, I’ve started creating new, specialized shops. I’ve worked really hard in the last couple of months to streamline and expand these shops. What started out as one shop with the name JayeLKnight is now five shops! Woohoo! LOTS of work though. :P

I’ve just changed the name of that original shop to Nerd Cat Creations. Fandom inspired jewelry was always a big hit, and now I’m focusing on fandom, geekdom, and nerdom gifts with that shop and, considering my love for cats, the name seemed appropriete. :)

Besides my Etsy shops, I also have shirts available on Amazon! This includes free shipping for anyone with prime. However, if a design doesn’t sell within the first 90 days, Amazon takes it down. So if you see something you want, make sure to get it! Otherwise check my Etsy shops where they will be available all the time.

To see any of my shops, just click the shop banners below. The amazon links are just below each banner.

The Worth of a King - Cover Reveal

So, this post is a little late (oops). I forgot to schedule it and then I was over at my parents’ house today helping my mom watch my little nephew. Luckily, I remembered when I got back. So, without further ado . . .

Worthreveal

Book release date: August 27th

the worth of a king 4

Book Description:
Princess Obsidia’s father was killed the night she was born. Since there was no male heir, the crown went to the man who killed him, by Dialcian law. This never bothered her, growing up, and when it comes time for Obsidia to choose her husband, she chooses Prince Delaney, the son of that man, with little hesitation. Only then does her life start crumbling around her.

Adrian expected to live a normal life, taking his father’s place at the print shop when his father retired. But, on his eighteenth birthday, when the princess’ engagement is announced, his world is ripped out from under him when he learns that his life was a ruse, and he is the twin brother to the princess – and expected to take back his father’s throne.

Delaney knows that his country is hovering on the brink of war – and that his father may harbor murderous intentions towards his intended bride due to her Zovordian blood. He wants nothing more than to protect Obsidia and his people, but as merely prince, he has little power against his father.

The ancient war between the Dragons and the Immortal King and Queen is nearing its climax, and the three are already caught in it.

Add Book on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/32739875-the-worth-of-a-king

Snippet:

“Oh! I knew it, Sidi!” Nadilynn cried as Obsidia and Delaney descended from the platform. “I knew it!”

Delaney laughed and pulled Obsidia closer. “Did you now? I thought that you were quite befuddled and had no idea at all whom Obsidia could have possibly chosen.”

“Oh, Del, that was the fun of it,” Nadilynn countered. “Making you think that I was completely befuddled. But I’ve seen the looks the two of you have been giving each other. You couldn’t have been more obvious if you’d been trying.”

Writing and Publishing Updates (i.e. Oh, the torture!)

This update has been a long time coming. (Wow, that sounds ominous. But don't freak, I'm not quitting writing or anything.) It's really just an update. You see, I've been getting an increasing number of messages lately asking about the status of Bitter Winter and how writing is going. In one word, it's basically . . . not. Yeah, this whole last year has been awful for writing and editing. Just terrible. Basically, torture. Yeah.

You see, when I moved out on my own, I suddenly had all of the pressures of adulthood dropped on me. Groceries, bills, insurance, vehicle issues. Everything. And then lots of family stuff. Nothing really bad or anything. Just life. You know, that thing that likes to take all of your best-laid plans and, with a puff of smoke, turn them into ashes? Yeah, life. I feel like mine has been a chaotic, disorganized mess that I haven't been able to completely sort out yet even though I've been on my own for a whole year. I'm hoping 2018 will be where I finally hit my stride. *feels LIFE lurking over my shoulder ready to strike*

I suppose I'm being somewhat dramatic, but that's how 2017 felt. I did almost no writing besides finishing up the surprise NaNoWriMo contemporary romance that leaped into my life late 2016. The fact that I've hardly written in a year is absolute torture itself. Writers can't not be writing. It leads to feelings of hopelessness and self-loathing. I'm not even kidding. This gif is basically what it has felt like to try to write for the past year.

Editing has been no better. I'm still working on the first chapter of Bitter Winter.

The. First. Chapter.

Ugh. More torture. More self-loathing. Here is actual footage of me trying to edit.

Again, I'm being dramatic, but it's actually the truth. And I constantly beat myself up over it. With every month that passes, I feel the pressure of needing to get the next book out. And, of course, that just makes it all that much worse. I don't do well under pressure. Is it any wonder I've had a horrible case of writer's block?

So, that's all the bad news. Here's the good news. I started writing today. Some of it was easy, some of it was hard. I've implemented a plan that I hope will help me stay on track and finish writing book six of Ilyon Chronicles this spring. That has been the biggest thing weighing on me. I need to get that book done.

As for Bitter Winter, I also did some editing today. I think once I get going on it, it will become easier. I have no idea when it will be published, but unless something catastrophic comes up, I will publish it this year. To answer the question I keep getting: Sorry, I don't have an actual publishing date yet. It's way too soon for that. But I will announce it the moment I know. :)

In the mean time, prayers are very much appreciated. Adulthood is hard. (Can I get an 'amen'?) Writing it not nearly as easy as it was when I would sit in my bedroom for hours on end at my parents' house and not have all the adult responsibilities I do now. It was more fun then, sadly. But, regardless of how long it may take, I'm going to keep on pushing forward. I will get these last two Ilyon books done. And I can't tell you how much all of your loyal support means to me, especially when the going gets tough. Thanks for sticking it out with me!

P.S. I nabbed the gifs from this awesome blog post that perfectly sums up being a writer. (Disclaimer: I have no idea who this author is, what she writes, or what else is on her blog/website. It just came up when I was searching through gifs.)

Ilyon Chronicles Website Overhaul + Giveaway!

First of all, happy 2018! I didn’t even have a chance to write a New Year post. First I was out of town on New Year’s Eve weekend because my brother got married (yay!) and then I came down with my third (or is it fourth?) bout of the flu this winter. So awful.

Anyways, in between all of that, I worked on giving my Ilyon Chronicles website a complete overhaul. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do for a while now and finally made time for it. I’m quite happy with how it turned out. I even updated the Ilyon Chronicles character quiz and made two new ones: Which Ilyon guy is right for you? and Which Ilyon girl is right for you? Yes, I didn’t want to leave my male fans out. ;) Here is a fun “before and after” picture of the home page of the website.

Untitled-2
To celebrate the shiny new makeover, I’m having a giveway for an Ilyon Chronicles t-shirt! It will be winner’s choice of design, color, and size. You can see the t-shirts that are available on the website. Just enter using the form below. And do tell me, how do you like the new website? :D
