Half-Blood is now available!

Well, this has been a crazy couple of months. These last couple of weeks have been especially busy. As many of you know, I was away at Lifest last week with my brothers and our cousin who drove seven hours to come camp out with us. We had a marvelous time together and I loved getting to see so many of my favorite artists. I’m already looking forward to next year.

But, that’s not the point of this post. The point is that Half-Blood is now available!! It’s my very first novella. I’m really excited to be able to share Jace’s backstory, though very tragic. There will be several stops on the blog tour this week celebrating it’s release. I feel like I’m super behind on everything since I was away until yesterday, but blog tours are always great fun. I also have a fun giveaway going on this week! So keep reading to check out all the fun! :)

About the Book

The gasps and murmuring grew. Though some were hardly more than whispers, clear words reached Jace’s ears—dangerous, monster, animal, soulless. He tried to back away from their accusing eyes, but the collar pulled hard against his throat and held him in place.

For all his years as a slave, Jace has known nothing but the hatred people hold for his mixed blood—one half human, the other half the blood of a race considered monsters. Always, he is the outsider and quickly learns it is better to keep to himself. But, when his volatile ryrik blood leads him to do the unthinkable, he is thrown into a world of violence and bloodshed.

Forced to become a gladiator, Jace finds more and more of his heart dying as his master works to break down his will not to become the monster everyone believes he is. When a stranger interferes with his master’s harsh punishment, Jace’s world is upended yet again. But with it comes the possibility of hope that has long since died. Could the man possibly hold the key to escaping the hopeless darkness that is Jace’s life? Is there such a thing as life beyond the cruelty of slavery?

See where Jace’s story all began . . .

  1. I have not read The King's Scrolls yet, but I love the cover and the whole story sounds amazing. I loved Resistance and Half Blood (though it was terrible sad!) and I'm sure I'll adore TKS too!

  5. Whooo hooo! Glad it's out, I'll get my full review up today. :)

One thing that was special about Half-Blood was seeing the influences in young Jace's life and how he ended up the way he was at the beginning of Resistance. :)

  9. The Illyon series is one of the best series I have ever read (I am currently in the middle of book one), I have finally gotten my hands on the fist two books (thanks to my sister for the great gift!) and let me tell you it is a page turner! It is very seldom for me to find a character that I can relate to or connect with, but Jace is one of the few characters that I can really relate to. I would love to read of his early life and what had taken place for him to become they way he is. Jaye L. Knight you are doing a fantastic job with the series! keep up the amazing work

  11. What intrigues me the most about Half-Blood would be the fact that it is a pre-sequel, and the deep look we will get at Jace's life. The reason this intrigues me is because I love getting to know the characters better, in any story; and I love knowing what has happened before the story actually begins ;).
Now I have not read any of the books yet...but they just came in the mail (except half-blood, I still need that one!), so I will be reading them soon (I am So Excited)!
Congratulations Jaye! I cannot wait to read it!

  12. I have not yet read any of the books to the Illyon series, but I have heard that they are great and I will be reading them soon which I am soooo Excited about. What really intrigues me the most about Half-Blood is the it is showing you Jace life before the Illyon series. It give you a deeper look into the character of Jace, and who doesn't love to see a better background of characters? I know that once I read the Illyon series I would want to see what happened to Jace before which is what this book does.
Congratulation Jaye on your new book!!! I can not wait to read them!!!!!!

  14. I'm currently in a different city for a month than my younger sisters who are all fans. So I bought the paperback and shipped it home for them (and for my series collection at home) and read it on my Kindle app this morning. Soooo goooood!! I wished it didn't end. I'd have loved to see more of Jace with Kalli and Aldor. :)

  16. I don't know if my first comment was posted. I haven't read all the books, and I haven't read the first couple books in a while, but when I read them, I loved them. Jace was my favorite character, and I would love to know more about his backstory.

  23. Just looking at the cover is making my eyes feel a little watery. Ohh, this book made me cry so. very. much. I love this series... (Though this one, I must say, is not one I could handle a reread of for many months. Maybe not for a couple of years.)

  26. What intrigues you most about Half-Blood? Any thoughts or comments on the series?
I want to continue the rest of the series actually. I'm not overly interested in going back in time. I'm fascinated with the relationships and the spiritual themes developing in the life of Jayce. I really enjoyed book #1 and can't wait to read more!

  27. Honestly, what intrigues me most about Half-Blood? More awesome Ilyon. :)

  28. Also I have to mention the overlap of Half-Blood and Resistance. It's unlike anything else I've ever read - but I've wanted something like it so many times.

  29. Hmm... I understand Jace's struggles more after reading Half Blood. I'm sure everyone does.

  30. So exciting!! I can't wait to get a paperback copy of Half-Blood for my bookshelf!! :)

What intrigues me most about Half-Blood? Hmm . . . I don't know. Just that it's Jace's backstory!! Some of it was heartbreaking, but I just feel like it really sets the stage for Samara's Peril, which I am dying to read!! :D

    Fun stuff! I love Ilyon Chronicles, and just . . . need to read more . . . ^_^
